Technology and Connections at PacPrint 2022

PacPrint

The Neon Team have just returned from sunny Melbourne, where Australia’s premier printing exhibition, PacPrint, has taken place. Having been delayed for one year due to 2021’s Covid lockdowns, this year’s event was an incredible and much-needed opportunity for the industry to reconnect and learn about the latest and greatest in all things to do with print, signage and graphics.

Held every four years, PacPrint is the largest and most extensive printing industry event in Australia – and it has been running continuously for over 50 years! This year there was over 8,000 square meters of exhibition space filled with an exciting array of printing industry suppliers and partners ranging from digital and offset machinery, to finishing equipment, workflow solutions and paper and substrate suppliers.

This year’s theme was ‘Renew, Rebuild & Reconnect’, and that is exactly what took place. Over the four-day event, more than 10,000 printing industry professionals attended the Melbourne Exhibition Centre to explore new print technologies, learn ways to improve customer experience and reconnect with an industry that has been heavily impacted over the past two years.

Neon Director Andrew Lewy, who attended with his business partner Ben Lewy said, “It has been a fantastic opportunity to head down to Melbourne and attend PacPrint, particularly after the tumultuous past two years. I remember attending my first PacPrint exhibition in 2017 when I was still relatively new to printing- it was such an eye-opening experience, and I learned so much about the printing industry. Attending again this year has been a great book-end to the pandemic, and it is great to see the technology and innovation that has taken place over the past five years.”

This year was Ben Lewy’s first PacPrint. He was impressed by the cutting-edge technologies on display, saying, “From wide-format to offset, digital print to automated finishing equipment, the technology and innovation is just incredible. I have particularly enjoyed visiting our supplier’s stands and seeing their latest developments and innovation. In addition, the improvements in finished products and workflow efficiencies this technology brings are inspiring. I look forward to implementing some of these innovations into the Neon business so our clients can continue to experience the very best in print!”

Trade shows such as PacPrint play a crucial role in ensuring Neon provides the most innovative and cutting-edge print solutions for its clients. Following 2017 PacPrint, Neon (Then known as Forestville Printing) procured a package of new machinery, including a new EBA Guillotine and Epson wide-format plan and poster printer and scanner. Additionally, in an exciting development, Neon sealed the deal on their new workhorse production machine, a Konica Minolta Bizhub C3070 at the 2019 Printex exhibition in Sydney. This continued their longstanding relationship with Konica and has proven to be an excellent procurement decision enabling Neon to continue to utilise technology to produce impact and success for their clients.

The next big event on the industry exhibition calendar is DRUPA – the world’s largest and most renowned printing exhibition, which takes place every four years in Düsseldorf, Germany.
